With his razor-sharp, satirical, political, and above all, inspiring poems, delivered with fiery speed, John Cooper Clarke quickly rose to prominence as a "punk poet" in the late 1970s. He was a welcome guest on stage, appearing with bands like the Sex Pistols, Division, Buzzcocks, The Fall, Elvis Costello, and New Order. Between 1978 and 1983, John Cooper Clarke released five albums and several EPs and singles. His poems were musically supported by the band The Invisible Girls. His long-awaited autobiography, titled "I Wanna Be Yours," was published in 2020. It features his most famous poem, "I Wanna Be Yours," in meticulous detail. In it, he recounts his fascinating life in Manchester, the rise of punk, and drug addiction.bottom of page
